There's been this one bird that I've been seeing all summer up on Mill Pond that I haven't been able to get close enough to to get a good picture of. Always been far enough away I couldn't  get a good enough look at so that I could look it up on the Internet. Mill Pond is really 2 ponds, the back pond is a little higher elevation than the front pond and drains into the more developed front pond. The back pond is surrounded by thick shrubs and trees and so the more timid birds can be seen there rather than on the more open front pond.  I took this picture on my way back home after going to take pictures on the trail to Caribou. The only thing I saw on the pond were the Canada Geese, until I got home and loaded the pictures on my computer. The second picture shows an enlarged area of the first picture with what I've been able to find out searching Maine birds is a Little Blue Heron. I never saw the bird until I looked at the picture.
